Committed To Quality, Committed To You
Paper – One of the most essential artifacts for every human being, regardless of gender & age. From a child to the eldest, everyone uses paper for more than one reason. Talking about the Paper & pulp industry, it is believed to have its roots in Spain. The first paper mill was established in about 1150, at Jativa – one of the provinces of Valencia, Spain. Paper mills started functioning in Italy, France, Germany, and England by the end of the 15th Century & by the end of the 16th Century, paper manufacturing started throughout Europe. Achieving quality paper has always been challenging, but with the advancement of sieving & filtration in the paper industry, these problems have been significantly reduced.
It is said during the early days of industry there were many problems in the manufacturing of paper & among them the prime & supreme was achieving quality paper. As and when the sector matured problems started resolving with new technology, methods & processes being identified. But still, one problem was intact & was about the quality of the paper – rather a serious problem.
It was eventually discovered that sieving & filtering technology could break barriers to achieving quality paper. With time Sieving technology was a vital process for achieving high-quality papers. To understand how sieving & filtering technology helps achieve high-standard paper & how can we help the industry let’s go through a quick brief inside the making process of paper.
Paper can be produced from either wood or from recycling paper again. To be precise the basic raw materials included in the production of paper are wood chips from wood, water, energy & chemicals.
Initially, the paper-making process starts with growing trees. Trees that are being used for the manufacturing of paper are grown & cultivated, particularly for that reason only.
Generally, wood fiber comes from lumber mills to paper mills as chips which are then debarked & conveyed into a chipper to get the wood into pieces and in the form of wood chips. Wood chips are further pressure-cooked with a mixture of water and chemicals in a digester. From here the actual process to make the pulp starts. The pulp is the most important material in the paper production process. Now the pulp is washed, refined, cleaned, and sometimes bleached. It is then turned to slush in the beater. Color dyes, coatings, and other additives are mixed in, and the pulp slush is pumped onto a moving wire screen. As the pulp travels down the screen, water is drained away and recycled.
To fulfill the paper products, the manufacturers sometimes evade the quality standards that should be followed while manufacturing paper products. Quality issues are on highest priority for every paper and board mill.
Industrial Vibro Separators and Automatic Self-Cleaning Filters are installed to achieve the right quality of the paper & pulp products and eventually increase the production throughput. Let’s analyze how exactly the Vibro Screeners and Self-Cleaning Filters from the house of Galaxy Sivtek can help achieve quality paper & pulp along with helping in increasing productivity.
The remaining crude pulp is now squeezed between large rollers to remove residual water and ensure smoothness and uniform thickness. This process discharges a large amount of remaining pulp and water. Water is the most used component in the production of paper. Hence residual water should be reused without leaving a drop of it. The present recovery and utilization of waste paper in mills in India are only 3 million tons every year. This implies just 27% of the aggregate paper and paperboard consumed in India is reintroduced into the system.
Therefore, backwaters are very convenient for recycling within the production period. A SIVTEK® Vibro Separator can assist paper manufacturers to achieve a large amount of water and pulp to be recycled. Vibrating sifters & Industrial Self-Cleaning Filters not only improve the productivity of the manufacturing unit but can be easily installed into the processing line that separates pulp from the water and the water can be sent for reuse.
After the backwater process water still contains a small number of pulps and unwanted particles. A pumping motor is required to pump water from the clarifier to the Vibrating Sifter or SIVTEK® Self-Cleaning Filter. These Industrial Vibro Sifters and Self-Cleaning Filters will filter the water to eliminate fibrous pulp and other solid contaminants and the clear water can be reused further in the manufacturing unit for a different purpose.
Ultimately it will reduce the waste of water, reduce manufacturing costs, and increase the environmental footprint of the company.
The process of manufacturing paper, requires different kinds of chemicals and slurry, like Coating slurry, Filter slurry, and Oxide starch. Industrial SIVTEK® Vibro Separator for starch filtration or Automatic Self-Cleaning Filter can assist manufacturers in achieving high-quality coating & starch slurry which eliminates oversize and foreign particles.
The advantage of filtering slurry at this stage is to reduce downtime by preventing clogging of the coating blade in the coated board-making machine.
A large amount of coating slurry and starch slurry is wasted during the coating process of the paper products. A managed way is to introduce a system to reuse the remaining slurry which is filtered through Vibrating Sieve and Industrial Liquid Filters. This recycling process helps in getting more out of your current resources and achieving maximum productivity which impacts the bottom line of the organization.
In the final stage, the finished paper is wound into large rolls. A slitter cuts the paper into smaller and more manageable rolls, & the paper is ready to use.
Manufacturing a high-quality paper and paper board that gives you remarkable productivity growth at a low cost.
