Sugar is one of the most consumed food items worldwide & it all is proved by its usage in multiple recipes across various cuisines of the world. Not only it is used in making food & beverages, but it also has various other usage ranging from its medical usage to being used as preservatives & additives.
The client seeking out for filtration solution were amongst the biggest Sugar manufacturer of India & were known worldwide for their high-quality brown sugar.
Requirement & Challenges
The Sugar manufacturer meets Sivtek expert in one of the renowned food processing exhibition & explained a bit about the process & the issues they were currently facing while filtering raw sugar juice.
Sugar manufacturer quoted, “We are currently using big round vibratory separators to remove bagasse from raw sugar juice. The 3 main problems we are right now going thru are of low output, mesh clogging, and frequent cleaning & maintenance.”
Our expert scheduled the visit to the plant to understand the real-time reasons behind their problems.
During the visit, it was inspected due to the higher percentage of waste i.e. bagasse & fibres remaining & sticking on the screen, the mesh was being blocked.
Less efficiency & low output were the by-problems occurring cause of mesh clogging. Frequent & continuous cleaning of the screen was required to avoid mesh blockage & to enable efficient filtration.

Requirement
Filtration machine that gives high & desired output. A filtration system with a unique mechanism that eliminates mesh clogging issue & demands minimal cleaning & less maintenance.
Product Expert from Galaxy Sivtek proposed to run an inhouse trial at Galaxy’s research & development centre with a sample of unfiltered raw sugar juice.
Sivtek 360° Discharge Separator® was selected for trial as mesh clogging was one of their major problems.
A proper centre feeding arrangement was made above 360° separator at the R&D lab to get the accurate results.
Trial Results were matching up to the requirements as a working mechanism of Sivtek 360° Discharge separator did not allow fibres & bagasse to stay over a mesh screen. Bagasse & fibres discharged quickly from a mesh screen, fell into 360° periphery (hollow edges) around the screen & thrown out from outlet spout.
Due to the quick discharge of unwanted oversize, the issue of mesh clogging was solved. With the elimination of mesh clogging other two by-problems were solved automatically.
Filtration of Raw sugar juice with 360° discharge separator, did not allow the mesh to block which in return enabled efficient filtering & helped in achieving the high desired output. The requirement for frequent cleaning was reduced to minimal cleaning as now fibres & bagasse did not stay over the screen.
A brief report with trial video as an evidentiary factor was sent to sugar manufacturer for analysis of results. After detailed analysis client agreed to the suggested solution of Sivtek 360° Discharge Separator® & ordered 2 machines.
